List of Clients
AGI provides services to businesses of all kinds. Here is a quartet
of summaries related to AGI engagements serving clients in the commercial
development, manufacturing, and product distribution sectors. These
profiles exemplify the scope and complexity of work that AGI undertakes
every day.
Shopping
for A Clean Site
The Challenge:
Provide site-specific environmental data and cleanup experience
to a commercial developer constructing a shopping mall on the site
of a former railroad equipment manufacturing and repair facility.
How
AGI Helped:
Performed soil and groundwater investigations; met with local officials
to discuss extent of contamination; developed and implemented a
remediation program; prepared a report summarizing treatment; met
with local and state officials to discuss the treatment program
and before and after data of soil and groundwater
contaminants.
The
Result:
The developer (AGIs client) purchased the property, and the
shopping mall was built.
Legal
Rescue
The Challenge:
Determine the source of heavy metals in soil surrounding a pair
of steel plants and ensure that only the offending party would be
responsible for government-imposed fines and penalties.
How
AGI Helped:
Surveyed plant operations and waste disposal systems; devised and
conducted soil analysis tests; compiled a report with documentation
of test results; and submitted the report to state and federal agencies.
The
Result:
The report persuaded state and federal officials that AGIs
client was innocent in the matter and helped absolve
the company of liability.
Distributing
a Fair Penalty to a Former Gasoline Distributor
The Challenge:
Prove that contamination to soil and groundwater at a gasoline distribution
site was caused by the previous owner.
How
AGI Helped:
Gathered background history of the site; designed and implemented
an effective soil and groundwater investigation; prepared a report
for use in trial; and testified as an expert witness.
The
Result:
AGIs findings allowed our client to win the case, which required
the previous owner to remediate the site.
Ensuring
Safe Workstations
The Challenge:
Conducting industrial hygiene monitoring for chemical and physical
hazards at workstations to assess personal exposure to formaldehyde,
phenol, welding fumes, silica, and dust.
How
AGI Helped:
Developed a sampling program, based on the nature of the activities
performed at the workstation and potential duration of exposures.
Collected air samples in the breathing zone of workers.
The
Result:
Identified tasks that present the potential for the firm to be out
of compliance with OSHA standards, depending upon the frequency
and/or duration of the tasks.
